First of all, I would like to say what a tragedy... and my heart and what little sympathy I have left goes out to the parents, family members, and friends of the deceased and the seriously wounded.
But, ya know what? A LOT of idiots have sprung forth after this incident... and here's what I have to say to all of them...
To the GUN CONTROL advocates: Gee, now there's an innovative idea. BAN guns. Take away MY freedom to protect myself and my loved ones. Oh, but GUNS kill people, you say? No, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE. Lemme think.. when's the last time I saw a loaded gun just up and say to itself, I feel like killing Joe Schmoe over there? NEVER! You know why? It's an inanimate OBJECT, it has no thoughts, no brains, no emotions, NOTHING... and it can't do ANYTHING unless there is someone behind it to squeeze the trigger and force the bullet out of the barrel and into something. And on an AOL forum, some REAL stupid idiot tried to say that we could nuke Iraq cuz "nukes don't kill right? if Guns don't kill then nukes don't kill, do they?" WHAT A MORON... of course NUKES kill! Nukes, like guns are created to protect and kill if necessary. But, guess what... the MISSILE didn't decide to up and kill half a country full of people, a PERSON did...... so... back to square one... Also, I've seen how some of these: "Turn in your guns and you'll get a prize" things work. A lot of police departments have done it with little to no success. So if you ban guns, and every "law abiding citizen" turns them in, how many NON-law abiding citizens do you think WON'T turn them in? Then what? A police controlled state where everyone lives in fear. Sounds like Fear Factory's "Obsolete" album.
To all the RELIGIOUS ZEALOTS that sprung up after this incident: Gee, ya know, maybe God is the answer, and maybe God isn't... but telling everyone that we need to reintegrate prayer into schools and other public places and force your way of beliefs on me is a CROCK. That makes you no better than the gun control advocates above. Essentially, you want us ALL to believe your way right now and no other way. Sorry, doesn't work like that. And as far as integrating prayer back into school and other governmental places. Guess what: SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE has survived for 200 years... your cheese and whine isn't going to change it so DEAL WITH IT. In the mean time, let me go back to my committed belief in the LifeStream/Spirit Energy religion that was the basis for Final Fantasy 7. And there's nothing you can force on me to make me change my mind.
To the people who advocate Stricter School Security: I agree, however, that's by no means a way to correct these problems. Anyone out to do damage can easily do so with a perfectly legal geometry compass. And I hope you like waking several hours earlier... It must be a real pain to make 1400+ kids go through a metal detector each time they enter the building. As soon as it interferes with your life I fully expect you ALL to drop the idea and stop caring.
To the people who want to blame TV, Video Games, Music and any other lame media: WHAT THE HELL IS THAT ALL ABOUT ANYWAY? I grew up in a TV/Movie/Cartoon/Video Game/Heavy Metal Music generation... and I'm not that way.... and neither are any of my friends... Hell, I'm only 4 or 5 years OLDER than the kids who did this shootout in Littleton. So why haven't I shot at anyone? Gee, maybe it's because that everyone who is blaming these items are being extremely irresponsible? Yes, every single one of you IDIOTS out there who actually thinks that any media tells your children to go out and KILL are TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE. While I was growing up, I was told what I saw on TV was an act or a cartoon and what I saw in the movies was a stunt, and couldn't be done in reality. And my parents made sure I understood. But now a days, no one wants to explain that to their kids. They don't want to sit there and tell their kids what is real and isn't, hell they just want to sit there and not be bothered by their OWN kids! Hence the Television and the Video Games and the movies. These are the cheap babysitters to the IRRESPONSIBLE. And it's these irresponsible morons who don't tell their children that these violent video games, TV programs, movies and music is just a fallacy, and can't be emulated in real life... but we have to blame someone, don't we.. that's the way we are.. so I have an idea...
....BLAME THE PARENTS FOR BEING IRRESPONSIBLE AND THEN BLAME THE 2 LITTLE BRATS THAT KILLED 15 OF THEIR CLASSMATES BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT IT WAS COOL. THE BLAME STOPS THERE. NO MEDIA PRODUCT, NOT A RELIGION THING, NOT A GUN CONTROL THING...HERE'S A PHRASE FOR YOU: "LACK OF ACCOUNTABLITY"... you're telling me that their parents thought that what these teens did was "O.K." behavior? You think there weren't SIGNS of what they were about to do? Give me a break. All end all: the parents didn't want to deal with their teen age children and set them out to dry, and the teens learned by example and didn't want to deal with their peers and thought they were going to be able to get away with killing their classmates because they have been seeing lack of responsibility and lack of accountability from their own parents. Case closed...
And to all of you who think that BANNING OUR PERSONAL
FREEDOMS is the answer:
"My right to swing my fists in the air ends when it comes in contact with your
nose."
--Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes.
Think about that statement logically. I have the right to do ANYTHING I WANT, until it
harms someone else's personal rights. End of story. End of comment.
